Plans to build an ambitious £200 million plan to build a massive retail shopping complex and business park on the edge of Falkirk town.

Couple this with a £150 million investment being made at Bo'ness harbour, the completion and development of the new Falkirk Stadium, the further development of the canal network and additional investment being made throughout the Falkirk area and its not hard to see why the current slogan of 'My Future's in Falkirk' is striking a chord with the business community throughout Scotland and Europe.

The £150 million plan to revitalise Bo'ness will create 700 new homes, shops and a marina around the town's disused dock and harbour. Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley and Falkirk Council have already provided grant aid to carry out early work on the site.

A versatile marina and dock area will be much in demand in future years as the canal traffic grows and Bo'ness harbour will be a natural stoppage for sea going yachts and other small ships wishing to navigate the Forth and Clyde canal to make passage to and from the River Clyde.

The HELIX - Falkirk's Eco Park

The Helix Eco Park is an ambitious project conceived as part of the Falkirk Greenspace Initiative.

In the summer of 2005 the Big Lottery Fund launched the Living Landmarks and The Helix Eco Park project was identified as being eligible for this major funding programme.

During the autumn of 2005 a bid group of partners, Falkirk Council, Central Scotland Forest Trust and British Waterways Scotland supported by the project concept designers, further developed the project and in January 2006 a bid was submitted to the Big Lottery fund by Falkirk Council. Key elements of the bid include landscape structure and connectivity, canal navigation and giant art works.

As the project developed THE HELIX ‘creating living connections’ was selected as the project bid title.

In April THE HELIX was successfully long listed at stage 1 and was one of around 75 projects nationwide to receive an assessment visit.

If successful the funding award decision is anticipated in September 2007.
